I'm A Celebrity ~ Chapter 1
Hey there, I'm . You've probably heard about me and my band, ? Well if you're an alien out of space and you've just landed on this planet, I sing and play guitar, my best friend, , is backing vocals and guitar, plays the bass guitar and plays the drums. We're pretty big all over the world.
I'm going to tell you about the 3 weeks which changed my life. It was just a normal day, all four of us having our breakfast in the large house we shared in London, and fetched in the post from the front door's letterbox. There were loads of fan mail as usual, but for a change, there were one addressed to just me. I tore it open, excited. It read :
Dear madam,
The ITV would like for you to take part in the reality TV show, "I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Outta Here". It consists of celebrities being flown into a camp in the middle of the jungle in Australia, doing trials to win meals and staying there with 10 other campmates for 3 weeks. Please get back to us on our phone number printed on the reverse of this letter.
Yours sincerely,
Head of ITV Television Studios
I reread this letter around 5 times before grabbed it off me.
"How long does it take for you to read a letter? Haha, like you'd go on I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Outta Here!"
I imagined it for a few seconds, me in the jungle?! I'd seen this show loads of times on the TV. It came on once a year and we'd all sit around the TV every night for the 3 weeks the celebrities were in there and laugh at them as they screamed their heads off while spiders and insects crawled all over them. It sounded absolutely ridiculous, but somehow, I felt the urge to go and do it. You only had one chance to do this sort of thing... it would be a laugh.
"I'm going to do it," I mumbled, grinning to myself. I grabbed the phone and dailed the number and a posh man's voice greeted me on the other end. He told me that I had to go in for a photoshoot at the TV Studios not far from where I live, whenever I was ready. So I ran to the door and grabbed my black coat and trainers and my car keys.
"What on earth... Where are you going?" raised one eyebrow at me while the others looked at me, puzzled.
"They want me to do a photoshoot for the opening credits of the show and the press etc." I grinned, and jumped out the door, leaving them wide eyed.
It wasn't a long drive from our house, but it was a peaceful drive with straight roads which gave me time to think. I'd never done anything so adventourous in all my life... but the thought of being in a jungle in the middle of Austrailia, battling for meals just somehow appealed to me. Sure, I was screamish about any type of beetle, spider, snake - all the things you'd find in a jungle, but I felt like putting myself to a test. Doing something slightly different and scaring myself half to death.
"Just do whatever you think would refect your personality, like blow a kiss, or wave or something into the camera," the man with a girly voice and scarf wrapped around his neck was filming a 3 second clip of me, which would be added to the opening credits of the TV show. After around 15 minutes of shooting, he decided on the best one I'd done, and I was sent to another photoshoot downstairs. After a tiring 3 hours, they let me free.
"Oh wait, ! We'll pick you up around five in the morning, tomorrow, is that ok?"
"Tomorrow?! But you only sent me the letter this morning..." I replied.
"We sent the letters off around a week ago, it must have got a bit stuck in the post. Five, tomorrow?"
"Urm... yeah I guess. I better get packing..." I frowned as I went to walk out of the giant glass doors.
"Oh, you'll only be needing something formal for when you meet your campmates at a buffet in a hotel in Austrailia. Your flight is at eight tomorrow morning, but you won't need to get there until around half six, because we've got you your own plane for the flight. You'll need some clothes and anything you think you might need for when you come out of the jungle also. Oh, and you can take one item of your choice in the jungle with you, as long as it's not anything you can communicate with or is electrial because they'll be no electricity. Is that ok with you?" It took me a few minutes to actually think it all through, but I nodded and walked to my car. All my energy from earlier was drained out of me. I needed to get back, pack my suitcases and have an early night so I wouldn't sleep through my alarm clock tomorrow morning.
