The small green icon next to ’s name turned red on my computer screen as clicked the block button. Now another one of my best friend’s were against me and it was only the start of the summer break. It looked as if it was going to be a long, lonely summer.
~~Flashback~~
and and I were sat on a bench waiting for our turn at bowling. We were good friends, except if someone saw us now; I could have been a complete stranger to the other two. and were at one end of a bench gossiping like they were in their own bubble, totally ignoring me. The only hint that it was my birthday was that I had a small badge on my t-shirt saying “Happy 15th birthday!”. Some Happy Birthday it was turning out to be.
"If it wasn’t for me, wouldn’t even know existed,” my thought’s buzzed about in my head like angry bees. I stared at my shoes until interrupted me by handing me an orange ball indicating it was my turn next. She was the only one who was actually acting like I wasn’t invisible.
The thoughts started popping into my head again after I chucked the ball effortlessly down the shiny wooden lanes.
“The only day I have where it’s a party about me… What have I said to them for them to talk about me behind my back?”
“That’s really mean of them you know. They’re just jealous because you got some really nice presents from you’re family. Just ignore them. It’s your birthday after all!” tried to cheer me up but it wasn’t working, all I could hear in the background was sniggering.
~End Of Flashback~
This had been winding me up ever since I introduced and to each other. I was sick of their constant giggling whispers. had been my best friend for years before she met . Now I was getting slowly pushed out and was the replacement.
I stared out of my bedroom window where I was watching the new next-door neighbours move sofas and tables and cardboard boxes into the empty house and was disappointed to just see a couple around the age of 40 carrying the items. It could have at least been a girl around my age I could talk to throughout the summer. They didn’t look too snotty though so at least they might not mind me practicing my guitar as much as the old woman who’d lived there before and moved to a care home. Another car pulled up and a girl who looked about 13 jumped out of it, with what looked like her mum and dad, later followed by a boy around my age with hair slumping behind, not looking too happy about being there.
“Mum, why do we have to move here? This road’s full of old people.” He was mumbling to the woman with bleach blonde hair as he slumped onto an old garden bench, scowling.
All my attention suddenly turned to this boy. He was cute looking, and had a good clothes sense, not like most of the people around there. Most were into rap music and thick gold chains. I was into rock music and hated rap, so I didn’t fit in too well. I suddenly felt desperate to go and introduce myself to him. I wasn’t sure whether he was the one moving in or if he was just helping. Quickly I grabbed the keys to my new Mini and pretended I was looking for some CDs in the car door.
“, come and help lift your box of stuff out of the van, you need to help somehow.” ’s mum was shouting down to him. As he lifted his head, I saw his gaze stop on me for a while before heaving himself up to walk up the drive to the van. “When you’re done you can go and say hello to that girl over there next door, she looks around your age. It’ll be good to make some new friend’s to show you around.” I could hear his mum talking right from over here and I felt a sudden jolt in my stomach as I noticed his Mum walking over to the top of our driveway.
“Hello there, I’m Mrs. , I’m moving in next door. I was wondering if your Mum was at home so I could introduce ourselves?”
I lead her inside our hall, shouted my mum over and left them as they started having a chat. I knew what my mum was like, they could be chatting for hours. I walked back outside to see if the boy was still around and sure enough, he was hanging around inspecting the front garden. He immediately noticed me as I walked back outside and came over to the brick wall, which separated the two houses.
“Hey I’m , I’m moving in next door.” He spoke loudly for the first time as I smirked to myself and headed over to the wall where he was leaning.
“Hey, nice to meet you, I’m ” we shook hands and then both laughed. I got a bit more confident after that and we started questioning each other about ourselves. After a while I invited him inside my house and I took him up to my bedroom where we talked more on the sofa. We noticed there were a door that connected two bedrooms in both houses as it used to be one big house before they made it into two and he decided that he’d ask to have the bedroom that connected to mine so if we got bored we could just knock and walk through to the bedrooms instead of having to walk around to the front doors.
After around 4 hours of listening to music and messing around on the computer, we realized the time and walked downstairs to see our mums still chatting away. His mum looked up and noticed him and her eyes widened.
“Oh no, I forgot the time. I’ve got to put your bed up and everything next door, .” Mrs. rushed her son downstairs.
“Well it’s really late, we have a camp bed if you would like to stop over here for the night. It looks like you two have made friend’s already.” My mum surprised me by saying this, as she’s usually really picky about having friend’s over, let alone a boy she’d not even met properly.
“Oh, I couldn’t just dump him on you, the first night we’ve got here!” but she sounded slightly unsure, as it was already 9pm.
“We don’t mind a bit, as you said, it’s been a very long day for you, and you need some sleep for tomorrow, putting all the furniture about the house.” My mum persuaded her at last and and me grinned at each other as his mum came back with extra clothes.
"Hey! You've got to help me get this campbed out. You're the one sleeping on it, not me!" screamed hitting who was laying back on 's bed, reading out all of the Problem's column in one of 's magazines in different weird voices.
"Aww! I was just getting to the one about I girl who was embarrassed because she fancies sweaty dudes!" moaned, but got to his feet and heaved at the metal bars until they heard a crunch and he lifted his hand from underneath the bed to find a large spring in his hand.
"Oops... I think I might have broken it..." he mumbled shamefully.
"Well, that's your fault, you're going to have to borrow a sleeping bag and sleep on the carpet, aren't you, Mr. ?" smirked, but soon started screaming as grabbed a pillow and started bashing her head with it.
"I could always sleep in your bed with my head at the opposite end," said inbetween being hit with the pillow.
"What, and put up with your smelly feet?" put her hands on her hips as they both gasped for breath.
"Well I'm not sleeping down here on your hard carpet. Have any better ideas?" after a whole 15 minutes of arguing they finally agreed to sleep with their head and feet next to each other.
went to the bathroom to get changed as stayed in her bedroom, putting on her pajamas. When finally emerged was fast asleep, and could hear her soft breaths hitting the pillow her head was rested on. She looked so peaceful so crept into bed opposite her, trying his best to cover his feet with the quilt. Of course, he couldn't sleep. His eyes were fixed on her, as she laid there, only her chest moving.
The bedside clock turned to 3:30am and 's eyelids were starting to lose focus and close, when suddenly started turning and a frown appeared on her face. He sat up and moved his way over to her as she mumbled to herself and he stroked her arm, soothing her until the frown appeared to fade. He kissed her forehead and moved his pillow beside hers and drifted off into a deep sleep.
woke up at 10am with some sunlight shining through a crack in the curtain. She rubbed her eyes and was about to step out of the bed when she looked beside her to see sleeping peacefully next to her. A confused expression waved over her face but it disappeared and a smirk took it's place. She laid back down and turned to inspect him. His hair was covering his face and his mouth was slightly ajar. After around an hour of lying there watching him, he started to stir, so she closed her eyes and pretended to still be asleep.
He opened his eyes to be face to face with her and with a smile on his face, he got up, went to the bathroom and ran his fingers under the cold tap. screamed as splatters of cold water hit her face and the pillow fight started once more.
"I see your both awake then? Do you want any breakfast, cereals, toast?" 's mum peeped around the corner laughing at them as they both stopped dead, their hair messy and ruffled.
"Err, yeah I'll have a cereal bar" replied.
"Toast please Mrs. " grinned smoothing his hair.
"Call me " 's mum left the room and grabbed some clothes and headed to the bathroom again.
"Come in!" shouted as knocked to come back in. 's eyes widened as he saw her. Her long hair was down instead of in a ponytail, she was wearing some leggings and a long t-shirt instead of her jeans and baggy t-shirt. She was strumming some guitar chords to a Blink 182 song and he smiled and said, "All The Small Things?" and she nodded laughing. They caught each other's eyes for a moment and then looked down, their cheeks turning slightly red.
"Sooo... you starting school in September?" asked, but then cursed herself in her thoughts. "He's the same age as you, dumbass! Of course he's starting school in September!" she thought to herself.
"Yeah, hopefully I'll be in some of your classes. I can't be bothered to go through the whole making friends routine" he smiled.
"Do you wanna go for a walk? I could show you around if you want"
"Yeah, I'd love to" got up from where she's been sat and put the guitar in the corner against the wall. put on his beanie hat and they walked outside into the warm August sun.
"I'll show you where some shops are around the corner and the school"
As they reached the shops, saw and linking arms, looking down at the iPod in their hands, debating what song they show have on next.
"Damn it..." mumbled to herself, but overheard.
"What is it?"
"They used to be my best friends, not anymore" looked down at the pavement.
"How come?" said, looking puzzled.
"Apparently I'm an attention seeker" sighed but, to her surprise, stopped and cupped her face in his hands.
"I may have only known you for about a day, but I can tell already that your not that sort of person. They're not proper friends if they're going to say that about you. If they say anything, they'll have me to deal with" grinned, impressed with his own little speech.
"Thanks " a smile danced across her lips, as they both leaned into one another and they're lips finally touched. A spark of amazement filled up inside her, as they glanced into each other's eyes.
Out of the corner of 's eye, she saw the two blobs getting closer and she turned to see them both staring at her, and then up at . She'd never had a proper boyfriend before. Only those stupid ones that you had when you were about 5, and that was way before she'd met and .
"Do you wanna go back?" asked, looking her in the eye.
"Yeah... I think so..." smiled up at him. It was as if he could look into her mind and see what she was thinking.
They walked back, holding hands as the sun in front of them was slowly declining, until all that you could see was a yellow blanket filling the sky. He stopped as they reached his drive.
"I'm gonna have to start unpacking... I'll ring you, or knock if I get bored, ok?" he kissed her cheek and walked down his drive, waving to her as she went down hers.
"'s got a girlfriend, 's got a girlfriend!" his sister, ran up to him as he walked through the door with a evil grin.
"And how do you know?" he raised his eyebrows at her, but laughed along with her.
"I saw you, I was looking through my window and I looked down to see you practically glued to each other!" she ran off into the kitchen to tell her mum the news.
"I knew that you liked her, I saw that look in your eye when you saw her!" his Mum emerged from the kitchen with a pint of milk in one hand.
"Muuuuuuum, give it a rest! It's bad enough with her shouting in my ear, I don't need you too!" complained heading to his new room.
"I think it's cute! You should ask her for dinner sometime, I'd love to meet her properly, she seems like a lovely person" his mum smiled to herself as she headed back to making dinner.
groaned as the clock bleeped at him, telling him that his first day at the new school was waiting for him. He heaved himself out of bed and made an attempt of getting ready. His mood jumped up a bit, when he thought about the chance of having a whole day with , and went into the bathroom to add some products to his hair. He was just about to walk out of his bedroom, and leave to school, imagining that would have her own friends she was walking with, when a knock came from the door which connected to the two houses. He opened it to come face to face with the stunning, beaming smile that he'd seen last night.
"Ready, ?" she smiled cheekily and he took her hand and led her downstairs to the front door.
"Mum we're going" shouted before quickly attempting to make an exit before his mum could come and start moaning at him.
"We? What do you mean? Wait a minute, I want to see you off!" his mum came from watching the news in the living room, "! Where did you come from?! , come here, you've got some toothpaste..." his mum started licking her finger and poking at his face.
"MUM! Just let us go!" yelled, grabbing 's hand and escaping quickly.
"Aww, your mum's so lovely" giggled as gave her a light punch on the arm.
"Who IS that guy?" whispered to as and were sat at the opposite end of the classroom in science, talking to each other.
"I have no idea, but I'm gonna find out. I'm thinking about apologising to ... I was in a mood that night, and it was such a bitchy thing to do" looked down at her work which she and nobody in the whole class had even attempted starting.
"Yeah... I miss her... they look quite cute together, don't you think?" glanced over and looked over to. smiled and waved her hand, gesturing her to walk over.
"One minute , I think wants to talk to me..." she looked in the teacher's direction to see him on the computer and crawled over to the desk.
"What?" asked scowling, still looking over at the teacher. If he caught her it would be an after school detention.
"Spill, who's the guy?" grinned as looked over to him dreamily and then back again to .

"Yeah, that explains a lot... you're obviously together... where did you meet him then?" had now appeared peering over her desk, down at who was crouching down on her knees.
"He moved in next door about a week ago and we just, well started talking and it went on from there" re-lived that amazing moment again, when she first saw him through the window.
"Will you introduce us to him at break, then?" beamed excitedly as nodded and waddled back to her seat, breathing a sigh of relief. It was all over. Everyone was talking to one another. The only think that could go wrong now was if they didn't like . But what was not to like?
Everything went fine at break, had them all rolling around laughing and he even got talking to some guys who wanted a player for their band. He agreed and soon, every week , and were being entertained by the four guys every dinner as they played covers of songs. One night, invited them all round to his house. His parents were out for the weekend so he said that they could all sleepover. This time, it was 's turn to knock and answered, her jaw nearly dropping to the floor. He looked amazing. He wore baggy jeans, a red Hurley top and a backwards baseball cap.
"I've unpacked all my nice clothes so I'm not walking around in rags" he laughed as he saw the expression on her face, "your not looking all too bad either, we're only going to 's you know, not to a gig!"
"Oh haha, very funny, come on, you can come through here this time, so I don't break my neck trying to get past all those cardboard boxes!"
When they arrived, was sat on 's knee both of them with bottles of alcohol in their hands. and were sat at the other end of the sofa, both of them looking over at and as if they were mental.
"Yeah... sit down" gestured towards the spare sofa. It didn't look like the "party" was very entertaining.
"So I said to her... I said... "There's no way I'm going near those chickens!!"" was laughing hysterically as told her the story. sighed.
"You got any good films ?" he said as he keeled down next to a tall DVD rack.
"We can watch Saw 3 if you want, that might shut up. He hates it" smirked as started scrambling over the DVD with but shoved it in the DVD player before could touch it.
"CRAP! That made me jump. I'm going to sleep... I don't really like scary movies" said as she snuggled down onto 's warm chest and slowly went to sleep.
"You want me to help you lift her upstairs? Looks like the other four are staying down here tonight" and laughed at , , and , both couples fast asleep in each other's arms.
"Yeah, if you could that would be great" so and lifted upstairs to 's parents' bedroom and left to go to his own room.
"I love you, ... I don't think I've ever felt this way about anyone before... goodnight" kissed her forehead and turned off the bedside lamp.
"I love you too, " said with a smile.
